Everyone loves a bargain, and a farmer's market bargain is especially great for two reasons. One, it's exciting to get great food at a low price, and two, it helps dispel the myth that buying locally produced food is a privilege reserved for the wealthy.
So take note: local free range eggs can be had for two dollars a dozen. Two dollars! These are the little guys, not your jumbo extra large eggs from the supermarket. But small eggs are quite cute, and are great for making little fried eggs. They can also work great in recipes if you substitute 1 1/2 small eggs for an extra large egg (or 3 small eggs for every 2 the recipe requires, however it's easier for you to calculate).
